How to Use Deep Space’s Material Tracking Automation
Deep Space’s “Track” app supports configuring automations to combine material tracking data from spreadsheets, with your 3D models into an XML search set you can import to Revizto.
To initially set up a tracking workflow, you will need to talk to support to configure what your desired tracking statuses are, set up the spreadsheet file format, and enable your workflow.
To use a tracking workflow for your project the steps to follow are:
- Upload your 3D models to Deep Space via preferred method (Revit sync, IFC or Navisworks)
- If you have a bespoke case where the model data is also in spreadsheet format, please speak to support
- Log in to your project and navigate to Settings > Admin Console > Project Manager > Source Files
- Note: you will need the ‘Project Manager’ permission to do this
Set your synced file/s to “Tracking mode”. Only files with this enabled will be included in the automation.
- Note: you will need the ‘Project Manager’ permission to do this
- Navigate to the Track app and click ‘Workflow Upload’
At this point, your 3D models must already be synced. Upload your spreadsheet tracking data, select the required workflow (if you have multiple on a single project) and then click upload.
This will upload your file into Deep Space & begin the automation using the latest synced data from your models. - At completion, if you ticked ‘notify via email when done’ you will receive an email like the below detailing the steps completed
Take care to read any of the WARNINGS. If your uploaded spreadsheet was not in the expected format then it will not be processed.
At this point, you can now go back to the Track app and click the ‘Download XML’ button and import it as a search set in Revizto.
Common troubleshooting steps:
- Are all Source Files set to Tracking Mode in the admin console?
- Have you uploaded the exact same models to Revizto & Deep Space?
- Were there any WARNINGS in the email that your uploaded spreadsheet was not processed due to an invalid format?
- Do all the model elements have the correct category? (‘Generic Models’ from Revit, ‘IFcElementAssembly’ from IFC)
