Asset Portal and LOI

How to work with Deep Space Asset Portal

The Deep Space Asset Portal provides a flexible method of data entry and management for Assets.

Asset Metadata Workflows

Metadata Automation

When an entry is added to the Asset Portal, custom Metadata will be added based on the related Attribute Set.

Mode 1 - Direct Sync with Elements

Generally, the workflow occurs this:

  1. A Coding Scheme is selected for the Deep Space project:

  2. Object data is synced to Deep Space

  3. An automation is executed that populates the Asset Portal with element data. There is a clear link between a Deep Space asset and the model element.

The project Coding Scheme should be automatically set for the project Assets.

The `asset_portal`.`id_asset_portal` field becomes the permanent and stable identifier for that asset inside Deep Space.

  4. optional - an Asset Number is allocated (manually or automatically)

  5. optional - an Asset Classification is allocated (manually or automatically). The Coding Scheme is used as a lookup against a Deep Space managed list.

  6. Automations are executed that pre-populate required Asset Metadata fields for this asset.

  7. Metadata is entered related to the object

  8. Data is written back to the authoring tool, either using an automation / integration or a manual CSV or Excel based method

Mode 2 - Curated Sync with Project Library

In this mode, selected Families are nominated as Assets in the Project Library (aka Object Naming Portal.

This then populates the Asset Portal with relevant objects.

Asset Metadata can be added either manually or automatically.

Assets App is used for analytics, final verification and filtering.

File LOI (File Metadata)

  1. Select a File Attributes set as described at Managing BIM Files
  2. Navigate to File Metadata tab in the Asset and LOI Portal
  3. Input data
  4. optionally write back to Revit Project Information, for eventual export to IFC
